That was TOTALLY what I was thinking about...and I was right, I still remember the theme. When it came time in the song to name all the characters I remembered "Laura, Nick, and Roo, Mimi, and Buffy too" - or was the penguin's name Boppy, Bumpy.....okay, but I SO knew the rest of the song.
And yes, I do vaguely remember the other trippy koala cartoon you mentioned.
